Richard “Rick” Craig Dawson, 51, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2013. He was born in Middletown, OH on March 23, 1962 to Robert Dawson and Ruth “Vanneman” Kellar. Rick was a longtime resident of Rush Co. He was a 1980 graduate of Kokomo Haworth High School and a 1984 college graduate of Indiana University’s Earnie Pyle School of Journalism. He married Shannon Cagle on September 07, 1996. Rick was a TV reporter in Fort Wayne, Huntington WV and for WISH-TV for 24 years as well as the News Director for WFYI Public Media. Rick received many awards for his journalism work. He was a member of the Knightstown United Methodist Church, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, as well as a huge enthusiast of GEO Caching and his 170 year-old home.
In addition to his parents and wife, Rick is survived by two daughters, Kathryn and Delaney Dawson; a son, Kellan Dawson; a step-sister, Suzanne Patterson Sharp and his stepmother, Michal Dawson.
Friends are welcome to visit at the Knightstown United Methodist Church, 27 South Jefferson Street, Knightstown IN, from 2-6 PM on Sunday, September 29, 2013.
