Obituary for Wanda Smith (Frazier)

Wanda (Frazier) Smith, 78, of Indianapolis, passed away on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 23, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis.

She was born on June 13, 1939 in Knightstown, Indiana, a daughter of the late Wilbur G. and Lois A. (Archey) Frazier.

Wanda was a 1957 graduate of Knightstown High School. She lived in Indianapolis most of her life and worked for over 40 years with the Federal Civil Service at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, VA Hospital and U.S. Customs and Border Protection. She had been a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Knightstown and a member of the American Legion Post #152 Auxiliary. Wanda enjoyed sports, traveling, and spending time “hanging out” with good friends and family. She especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren.

Those left to cherish Wanda’s memory include two daughters, Lisa (husband: William) Thomas and Natalie Shaw both of Indianapolis; a nephew, Kyle (wife: Yadira) Hope of Indianapolis; five grandchildren, Billy, Andrea, Marcus and Shayla Thomas and Chanteil Bradley; seven great-grandchildren; two great-nieces and one great-nephew.

In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara L. Hope.

A memorial service to celebrate Wanda’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Heritage Funeral Care in Knightstown.

Friends may call from noon until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will be held privately at Glen Cove Cemetery.
