Obituary for James Glen Fitzwater

James Glen  Fitzwater
James Glen Fitzwater, 78, of New Palestine, passed away peacefully on the morning of November 15, 2017 at Hancock Regional Hospital.

He was born on March 8, 1939 in Indianapolis, IN, a son of the late Arthur and Helen (Lee) Fitzwater.

Jim graduated from Scecina High School in 1957. He married the love of his life Beverly Roberts on April 11, 1959. Jim began his career with the Indianapolis Fire Department and retired as Lieutenant after 28 years. He also worked on the Arson Investigation Team, Southport Police Department and as the Carthage Town Marshall for 9 years. He enjoyed collecting and working on his classic cars. Jim had a servant’s heart and always willing to help.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 58 years, Beverly (Roberts) Fitzwater; three daughters, Kari Fitzwater (companion: Kevin), Jamie (husband: Brian) Kise and Christy (Husband: Matt) Thuer; six grandchildren, Jason (wife: Krystle) Caulk, Kaylee (husband: Ben) Atensio, Tony Lusk (companion: Taylor), Shane (Wife: Kaili) Lusk and Mindy Lusk (companion: Dustin); six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Cindy Fitzwater and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Fitzwater.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, November 17, 2017 at Walnut Ridge Friends Church 8956 W. 800 N. Carthage, IN 46115 with Pastor Bruce Banister and Pastor Markus Dennis. Burial will follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery.

Friends may call on Friday from 12 noon until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to Alzheimer’s Association or Walnut Friend Church
