Obituary for Leonard J. "Lee" Pitts

Leonard J. “Lee” Pitts, 80, of Dunreith, formerly of Knightstown, passed away surrounded by his family on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Hancock Regional Hospital.

He was born on May 13, 1937 in Raysville, a son of the late Allie and Endie (Morrison) Pitts.

Leonard was raised in Raysville and attended Knightstown High School. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He was a long-time member of the Grand Avenue Baptist Church, the American Legion Post #152 and 30-year employee of Dana Corporation. Leonard loved golfing, woodworking, spending time with his family and his little buddy, Jacob.

Those left to cherish his memory include his three daughters, Terri (husband: Greg) Moore of Winchester, Robin Rose of Dunreith and Teresa (husband: Steve) Blake of New Castle; two brothers, Harold (wife: Carolyn) Pitts and Dale Pitts; three sisters, Betty Kise, Mildred (husband: Larry) Houser and Judy (husband: Russ) McMillan; sister-in-law, Jeanne (husband: Bill) Conn; brother-in-law, Jack Linville; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Jodi, Samantha, Bradley, Corey, Chris, Patti; ten great-grandchildren, Damon, MaKenna, Jacob, Julian, Aryia, Kale, Kaine, Braylon, Abbigale, Raiden and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years,
Jo Ellen Pitts (2010); two brothers, Floyd and Richard Pitts and one sister, Jewell Braden.

Memorial contributions may be offered to the American Diabetes Association or the American Legion Post #152.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Heritage Funeral Care in Knightstown with Rev. Tony Piper officiating. Burial will follow in Dunreith Cemetery with military honors conducted by contingents from the U.S. Army and American Legion.

Friends may call from 2 - 4 pm on Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.
