Lorean Porter, 88, of Knightstown passed away Sunday January 11, 2015 at home. She was born to the late John and Abigail (Nolan) Gilliam on August 13, 1926 in Carter County, Olive Hill, KY. She married Arnold Burton who passed away in 1977, and she married Woodrow Porter; he passed in 1995. She was a member of the Greensboro Nazarene Church. Lorean loved collecting angels and dolls. She enjoyed all animals and working in her rose garden. She was a bargain shopper at yard sales, flea markets and antique stores.
She will be greatly missed by her son Ronnie (Irmagean) Burton; her daughter Diane Tyner; a brother James (Julie) Gilliam; 2 sisters Betty (Aaron) Arnett and Geraldine Howard; 3 grandchildren, Ginger (Scott) Boling, Misty Burton, Tonya McCullough; 4 step-grandchildren, Wilson Smith II, Jeffery Smith, Jenny Caldwell and Gina (Jeff) Steele; 8 great-grandchildren, Erin and Adriana McCullough, Jeffrey (Katie) Steele, Jacob Steele, William and Meranda Boling, April Rain and Jessop Burton; 8 step great- grandchildren Amber and Nathaniel Smith, Jonathan, Kasey, Jennifer Caldwell, Jeffrey, Brittney and Brianna Smith, and a great-great-grandchild Eva Paisley Steele.
In addition to her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Homer and Lovell Gilliam; 5 sisters Girtie Henderson, Ruby Rayburn, Geneva Littleton, Louise Gilliam, Dovie Gilliam; a son-in-law Melvin Tyner.
Services for Lorean will be held Thursday January 15, 2015 at 11AM and friends may visit Wednesday evening from 4-8PM at HERITAGE FUNERAL CARE OF KNIGHTSTOWN. Burial will be in Glen Cove Cemetery, Knightstown with Pastor Gene Bennett and Dave Perry presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to the Henry County Humane Society at the funeral home.
