Ruby L. Gorman, 87, of Lewisville passed away Friday, February 6, 2015 in Indianapolis. She was born to the late Lewis and Dovie (Bowen) Hinton on November 7, 1927 in Haldeman, KY. She married her beloved husband, Arthur R. Gorman on March 8, 1947. They were married 55 wonderful years before his passing in 2002.
Ruby was an amazing cook and baker of delicious pies; she took pride in passing this down to her grandchildren. She enjoyed the Florida sunshine where she and her husband would winter in Brooksville, FL. Come spring and summer, she would tend a garden, then end of season she would can all the goods from her garden. Ruby loved her family and certainly loved her grandkids, also the late “Dutch”, her beloved 8 year-old Dachshund.
She will be greatly missed by her son, Ronnie (Jama) Gorman; daughter, Debbie (Denny) Maxfield; sisters, Lillie Rankins and Mabel Shelley; four grandchildren, Mike Maxfield, Dustin Gorman, Angie (Danny) Martin and Michelle (Rich) King; four great-grandchildren, Andrew and Madison Martin and Kennedy and Paxton King.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her three brothers Joe, Bill and Bob Hinton.
Services for Ruby will be held Monday, February 9, 2015 at 1PM at HERITAGE FUNERAL CARE in KNIGHTSTOWN, IN. Friends may visit from 10AM until time of service. Burial will be in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown with Pastor Gene Bennett presiding. Memorial contributions in Ruby’s honor may be made to a charity or organization of choice.
