Wilford E. Rankins, 89, formerly of Knightstown, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Hickory Creek Healthcare in New Castle.
He was born in Lewis Co., Kentucky on May 13, 1927 to the late John and Maude Stacy Rankins.
He was retired from Chrysler in New Castle and served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Wilford was a member of Knightstown Church of God, Knightstown American Legion and Chrysler UAW.
He will be missed by his close friend, Lillie Skinner Rankins of Shirley; son-in-law, Mick Riggs of Madison; two grandchildren; brother-in-law, Bill Stone of Mt. Sterling, KY and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Thelma Rankins; daughter, Peggy Riggs; sister, Erma Stone and two brothers.
Funeral services for Wilford will be held at 12 noon on Monday, January 23, 2017 at Heritage Funeral Care, 34 W. Main St. Knightstown with Bro. Randy Gross officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery with military honors provided by contingents from the US Navy, American Legion, and VFW.
Friends and family may visit from 10:00 am until service time on Monday at Heritage Funeral Care.
