Obituary for Bonita J. Brewer

Bonita J. Brewer
Bonita J. Brewer, 87, of Knightstown, went to be with Jesus on Friday, March 24, 2017 in Indianapolis surrounded by her family.
She was born on March 9, 1930 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Arthur and Nellie Wright.
In first grade, Bonnie met her husband-to-be, Stanley William Brewer and they started dating after high school. Bonnie and Bill were married on October 14, 1950 and enjoyed 57 years of marriage. They lived in Connersville for several years where Bill coached basketball. Later moving to Knightstown, Bonnie and Bill dedicated their lives to the Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Home for 28 years touching the hearts of all the students. Mrs. B did the Christmas shopping for the students, making sure each one received a personal gift of their liking. She was the hostess with the mostess, hosting various events and parties at the Home.
Bonnie was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for over 50 years, a member of Tri Kappa for 57 years, a counselor at Hoosier Girls State for 42 years and a faithful member of Knightstown United Methodist Church. Bonnie loved to travel and took many trips with family and friends. She had many, many friends both in Indiana and Ft. Myers, FL where she has been a snow bird since 1974. No matter where she went, she always knew someone. Bonnie never met a stranger and always had a smile. Her smile and clear blue eyes would brighten the room.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Lisa Brewer of Huntington Beach, CA and Linda (husband: Arthur) Hegewald of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Morgan (husband: John) Boyne and Spencer Hegewald; step-grandchildren, Trevor Boyne and Kelsey (husband: Paul) Carr.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Stanley William Brewer (2007) and sister, Ruth Sprinkle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Knightstown United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Knightstown United Methodist Church with Pastor Curt Hunt officiating. Private graveside service will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery.
